Machining of magnesium alloys

  • Magnesiumalloys with specific weights ranging from 1.4 to 1.84g/cm3 are the lightest alloys for construction. While cast alloys like AZ61...AZ91HP are available at reasonable prices, wrought alloys are more scarce in the market.
  • Beneath the well known magnesium alloys with aluminum, zinc, manganese, which achieve good properties at room temperature and below, but with poor creep and high temperature properties, special alloys with i.e. rare earth metals, yttrium and silver are available. These alloys offer excellent high temperature and creep properties and, some of them, superior corrosion properties.
  • We machine sand- die- and investment castings
  • We produce parts from wrought alloys, preferred AZ31, usually within 3 weeks or less.
  • We help to procure magnesium alloys, magnesium parts and magnesium castings.
  • We do surface treatment of magnesium alloys, i.e. grinding, polishing, chromating and painting.
